What Is The Eligibility For PM Kisan Yojana?
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central sector scheme with 100% central government funding to provide income support to all landholding farmer families across the country.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Landholding farmer families: This includes husband, wife, and minor children who collectively own cultivable land as per land records. The landholding should be marginal or small, as defined by the state government.
- Indian citizenship: All members of the beneficiary family must be Indian citizens.
- Income tax exemption: No member of the applicant’s family should have filed income tax in the previous assessment year.
- Agricultural land usage: The land owned by the farmer family should be primarily used for agricultural purposes and not for any commercial activity.
Ineligibility Criteria:
- Institutional landholders: This includes government or institutional bodies holding cultivable land.
- Constitutional post holders: Individuals or their family members who hold any constitutional post (President, Vice-President, Governor, etc.) are not eligible.
- Political positions: Farmer families with members holding positions in municipal corporations, panchayats, or any other local bodies are not eligible.
- Professional tax payers: Individuals or their family members who are doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, or architects registered with professional bodies and practicing their profession are not eligible for PM-KISAN benefits.
